Equipment Specifications - Updated October 27, 2009

A ll Dell computer systems come with Windows 7 Professional operating system. Desktop and notebook systems include four years of "ProSupport for IT" (formerly Gold Technical Support) from Dell. Systems with monitors, and notebooks also include "Complete Care" service. The specifications are designed so that these computers will be able to provide at least four full years of life as front-line systems. Desktop systems include a 19" flat panel monitor.

Floppy disk drives are no longer included as standard equipment.

As of October 2009, OSL's standard systems are OptiPlex 780 desktops and Latitude E6400 notebooks from Dell.

Laser Printers

L aser printers for color or black and white printing can be purchased through OSL. All models are network-ready. Prices available upon quote request. Current Dell lasers include:

  1. 5330dn B&W large capacity
  2. 3130cn color
  3. 2330dn small B&W

OptiPlex 780 Specifications

OptiPlex 780 systems have almost identical internal configurations. The only visible differences are the size and orientation of the computer case: Small Form Factor, Mini Tower, Desktop. These systems include a 19" flat panel monitor. Please note that 780s do not have PS/2 ports for keyboards and mice. Only barcode scanners with USB interfaces can be used with these computers.

Service includes four years Next Business Day On-Site Service with "CompleteCare" for monitors.

Latitude E6400 Specifications

This is a general-purpose notebook, suitable for use as a desktop computer replacement. Wired and 802.11b/g wireless network connections, and well as an internal modem are included. An optional port-replicator (docking station) is available for desktop use.

  • Also available is a docking station, the E/Port Replicator, which adds approximately $170 to the cost of the system.
